Relation Planet

Imagine your mother spending her Sundays in the park, sitting behind an umbrella with a note taped on it. The note has your picture, your height and weight, and a small description of your character and education. Furthermore there is your phone number and email address. Long lines of people pass by reading the note and chatting with your mum about you.

The good news: Your mum is in good company. Every Saturday and Sunday hundreds of parents spend their afternoon in People's Park looking for a suitable partner for their son or daughter. Following Chinese custom they would first like to meet the parents of the potential suitor before their darling gets to find out if 5 ft 1in, 28 yrs, BA arts, sweet character, 58 kg is indeed the love of their life.

The bad news: well... Do I have to spell it out?

When we asked a few youngsters what they thought of it, they giggled really hard and hugged their girlfriend extra tight. They'd found each other by themselves. Still I think it's a nice example of how offline can sometimes still win from online.
